Brent House holds a Ph.D. in English with a specialization in Composition (2012) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a M.F.A. in Creative Writing (2004) from Georgia College & State University, and a B.A. in English Education (1993) from William Carey College

Teaching and Research Interests
Dr. House’s research is focused on the creative writing classroom. He recently completed a manuscript titled The Muses on the Mountains: Mentoring Relationship Among Creative Writers. He has presented his research at the Gulf Coast Association of Creative Writing Teachers, the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing, the Association of Writers & Writing Programs, and elsewhere.
His poetry has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and published in journals such as Denver Quarterly, Colorado Review, Third Coast, and Cream City Review. His work was selected for the Ruth Stephan Poetry Prize by Joshua Clover and the Frankye Davis Mayes / Academy of American Poets Prize by John Hoppenthaler. In 2007 he was awarded a Hinds Research Fellowship from Indiana Wesleyan University. Slash Pine Press published his first poetry collection, The Saw Year Prophecies, in 2010. He has read his poetry at University of Alabama, Middle Georgia College, University of Mississippi, and elsewhere. He is a contributing editor of The Tusculum Review.
